Jackie Chan says Oscars are unfair

Jackie Chan said on his website Thursday that film awards like the Oscars can never be fair of the high volume of films and objectivity of judges.

"To be honest, I don't think anything is completely fair except for the Olympics. If you beat someone by one-thousandth of a second, then you won - with your result the only basis for a win - and of course this does not include cheating incidents," he said.

Chan wrote the comments in a message congratulating Ang Lee for his best director Oscar for Brokeback Mountain. The film lost to Crash for the best film award.

The martial arts film star also said that juror bias gives the awards an element of uncertainty. "Since everyone has different tastes or favorites, there will naturally be different results," he said.

His latest film Rob-B-Hood, where he plays a character who protects a baby from kidnappers, is expected to open in Hong Kong later this year.

Shilpa Shetty ordered arrested for exposed belly button

A Madurai court ordered non-bailable arrest warrants for Bollywood actresses Shilpa Shetty and Reema Sen accusing them of "posing in an obscene manner." The editor of the Murugan newspaper that published the photos was also issued a warrant.

The dusky actress Shetty, a native of Tamil Nadu, appeared in film stills with a traditional sari exposing her navel!

Shetty complained: "If navel-showing is obscenity, then our traditional Indian outfit - the traditional sari - should be banned in the first place."

Zhang Ziyi to attend reception for Hu Jintao at White House

Zhang Ziyi will attend the welcoming ceremony Thursday for Chinese President Hu Jintao on the White House South Lawn.

Zhang said that if given the opportunity she would ask U.S. President George W. Bush how many Chinese films he has watched.

After having stirred some controversy in her home country for her starring role in Memoirs of a Geisha, Zhang told the Chinese press that she was still interested in Chinese films. She's scheduled to make The Banquet, based on an ancient court drama this year under the direction of Feng Xiaogang.

Her film Jasmine Woman, which won the Jury Prix Prize at the Shanghai International Film Festival in 2004 is slated for public release on April 24 in China.
